September 4th-8th set sail on a 4 night cruise through the Caribbean to fabulous Cozumel, Mexico. Included in the cruise package are two open bar cocktail parties (one of which will be our own version of "Karaoke Idol"), a scavenger hunt that will have some absolutely fabulous and fantastic prizes, and a private beach party in Cozumel that will feature all the food you can eat, open bar, snorkel equipment, floats, lounge chairs, and more! The who's who of Hollywood will walk down the red carpet at
the 80th annual Academy Awards with hopes of receiving an Oscar, and
here in Orlando the who's who of Central Florida will walk down their
own red carpet with the intent of giving. On this night Variety
Children's Charity along their
partners will team up with this group of generous guests to give
the gift of mobility to children throughout Central Florida.
Each year, members from Fred Astaire Dance Studios converge in
Orlando, FL to compete in a variety of dance heats with amateurs
and professional from every corner of the nation. Last year, thanks
to Pahjmon Lipsey and Jack Rothweiler, the last set of dances that
took place on Saturday night was used to raise money for Variety’s
national mobility program.
The Gold Heart pin campaign is Variety's International's signature
fundraising endeavor worldwide. Chapters throughout the United States,
Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Israel, Barbados, France
and Canada participate in the campaign that begins in November and
goes through the end of March, with the crescendo of sales revolving
around Valentine's Day.
Variety Orlando teamed with Albertson's hosted our first Gold Heart
Ball on September 24, 2005. There was dinner and dancing, live and
silent auctions, everyone was dressed to the nines. With the help
of Albertson's Variety raised $75,000 to go toward our KIDS ON THE
GO program which supports children in Central Florida with mobility
issues.
